Stepping up

Are you looking for a working holiday with a difference? Would you like to volunteer your energy and skills to help us develop our project? Our 2011 volunteer programme was a huge success and we are now recruiting for 2012. The roles available fall broadly into three categories, Camp Full Monte Team Member, Camp Full Monte Project Worker, and Camp Full Monte Friend.

workmateAs a Team Member you will be a key member of our small community. We will train you to operate all our systems including the grey water recycling system, compost toilets, waterless urinals, solar water and PV systems. You’ll deputise for us when one or both of us cannot be on-site. You’ll help us to: welcome guests, maintain the gardens and grounds, cook and clean and supervise other volunteers as well as contribute and implement new ideas of your own. Ideally you will be looking to stay with us for at least six weeks and you’ll work 5 days a week. Vacancies for this role are from May 1st to Sept 30th. The role would best suit a couple on an extended travel itinerary. We’ll provide you with a free tent pitch, 3 meals a day on working days and, if required, one of our tents and comfortable bedding.

furniture restorationAs a Project Worker you’ll join the on-site team to help us complete specific projects. Vacancies for the role will be from May 1st - June 17th and Sept 1st – Sept 30th. Ideally you’ll stay with us for at least 3 weeks and work 5 days a week. Projects might include opening the site for business, spring planting in the gardens, repairing stone walls & fences, general building maintenance, clearing new paths and streamside walks, constructing rainwater collection systems, re-modelling the shared kitchen area. We'll provide a free tent pitch for your own tent and bedding plus 3 meals a day on working days.

gravelAs a Camp Full Monte Friend you would assist the on-site team with general day to day tasks connected with the daily running of the site. These might include cooking, cleaning, watering the gardens & grounds, pitching tents, as well as helping out with any other specific projects underway during your stay. Vacancies for the role will exist throughout our season from May 1st to Sept 30th. Ideally you’ll stay for at least 7 days during which you’ll work for 4 hours on any five days in that period. We’ll offer you a free pitch for you own tent and ask that you contribute €7 per day towards the cost of providing you with three meals a day on working days. This role would ideally suit anyone back packing or travelling on a limited budget through the region.

oliveIf any of this is of interest please download our volunteer information pack for more details and send us as much information as you can about yourself. Details of any similar past roles and references would be helpful but above all your anticipated availability dates. Vacancies on our volunteer programs are limited and sadly we had to refuse many applicants last year so get in contact soon. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
